Half Frame / Panoramic Twin Lens Reflex
Spend about an hour today making masks to convert (non-permanently) a Yashicaflex TLR into a half frame / panoramic type camera. I should be able to shoot twenty-four 24x50mm frames on a roll of 120 film. Results soon.
Me vs. Copal-X
Successfully rebuilt a shutter today, my first. Didn’t have to mess with the timing mechanisms, but did have to clean and reinstall the shutter leafs which had all spontaneously abandoned their posts and were rattling around in the lens barrel. The camera is an Olympus Pen D3, which, when I got it wouldn’t stop winding after cocking the shutter. After a couple dozen firings the shutter gave out. Somehow I managed to fix the film advance wind thing as well, but I did have to strip the leatherette off the front and I didn’t pay attention when reinstalling the exposure counter, so it’s all wrong. But(!) it dose seem to be working with a test roll drying as we speak and a cursory glance showing good results. I’d rather have an ugly working camera than a pretty paperweight.

Scanned negatives look good although the light meter is off a couple of stops. Also, it’s kind of funny but someone opened up this camera before and left an extra shutter blade in it, stuck in the aperture. They also left allot of loose screws and a few put back in the wrong place. I hate people who give amateur camera repair a bad name. C’mon people, these are simple machines!
