Technique
I like to keep moving even if it’s back and forth along the same block. I like my subjects moving around me. I like quickly turning to fire but not impeding anyone’s stride. I avoid eye contact but am not concerned that people know they are about to be photographed, and I don’t stop to see if there is any reaction. I try not to interfere with my surroundings but am not worried if I do. I prefer bright sunshine and I don’t think using a flash is impolite.
I like people alone or in groups, up close or far away, in front of or behind things. In or near cars, with or without their pets or children, indoors or outside.
I like lens flare, over or under exposure and motion blur. Grainy film and dusty scanners suit me fine. The camera matters less and less.
Rollei Walking Street
All shot with my much neglected Rollei 35 on Ilford Delta 100. I’m very much enjoying shooting without a meter, fixed-lens and zone focus. It keeps me thinking.
Digital Walking Street

More street wandering on a late sunny day, shooting the Olympus E-P1 + Voigtländer 15mm, which is rapidly losing it’s appeal. Maybe one day a Fuji X100 or a Leica M9 will fill my small digital tolerance. But I expect to rely on film much more in the future, until at least someone makes a digital camera without an LCD on the back and a decent viewfinder.
